Eli Olen Newman, 78, died April 19, 2008, at Magnolia Hospital. He was born Nov. 22,1929 to Arthur and Clara Hicks Newman in Alcorn County. He was retired from Oil Dri.
Services were Wednesday, with burial at Brush Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Corinthian Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Survivors included one brother, Glen (Linda) Newman of Walnut; three sisters, Vila (Wilbert Lee) Null of Walnut, Omaree ( Daryl) Hall of New Albany, Kay (Danny) Yancey of Ripley; and a host of nieces and nephews and his special nephew and caregiver, Michael (Donna) Mercer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Newman and two brothers, A.B. Newman and James Newman.
