Charles Allen McLain, 77, died June 29, 2008, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was an educator and he retired from the Civil Service as a school Guidance Counselor. He was a member of the Blackwell Church of Christ in Ashland and he attended the Lee Acres Church of Christ in Tupelo. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving on the USS Intrepid during the Korean Conflict.
Services were at McBride Funeral Home Chapel in Ripley with burial at the Tippah Memorial Gardens in Ripley.
Survivors included two daughters, Katrina McLain Watkins (Eric) of Tupel and Anita McLain Martin (Gary) of Maumelle, Ark.; three sisters, Dorothy Ladd of Louisville, Ky., Shirley Roberts (Tommy) of Whitwell, Tenn., and Patricia Ivey (David) of Hixon, Tenn.; three brothers, Bill McLain of Iowa, Roy McLain of Memphis, Tenn., and Robert McLain of Jasper, Tenn.; four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Estell and Hallie Cantrell McLain; one brother, Jerry McLain; his wife Johnnie Doris Alberson McLain.
