I am helping a friend research his Ford family line and I need some help. I am looking for info on Pleasant Prior Ford b. @ 1798 in NC. He possibly moved to TN, and was in Tippah Co. MS by the 1840 census. He married Zinah (Zinnah) Gregory b. 1796 in TN and they are both buried in the Shelby Creek Cemetery in Tippah Co. MS.
The family story is that Pleasant P. Ford fathered a child by an African American slave. Zinnah is a common name in Ghana where the slave first lived.
I have traced Zinah Gregory Ford back to Hardin Harley Gregory and Lucretia Cox. Hardin's parents were Thomas B. Gregory and Susannah Benton Gregory. I do not think Zinah was African American, but perhaps she claimed the child and raised him as her own.
My friend has seen a picture of his great-grandfather, the son of Pleasant Ford and the slave and said he was darker in color. The great-grandfather always claimed he was Lebanese, but he was not.

Cassandra (Cassander) Ford b. 1838
With this many descendants I am hoping there are still some of this Ford line in Tippah Co. that can help. Most of this family is buried in the Shelby Creek Cemetery at the Tippah/Benton Co. line.
If anyone can help untangle this story I would appreciate the help.
