Elwanda Wroten, 84, died July 12, 2008, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was born on Nov. 10, 1923, to Walter and Floy Wommack Smith. She was a Baptist and a retired seamstress, working over 25 years for Blue Bell. She loved cooking. She was an avid gardener and loved flowers and cats.
Services were at Ripley Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Tippah Memorial Gardens.
Survivors included her husband, Clearon Wroten of Blue Mountain; three sons, Ken Hogue (Gloria) of Fulton, Mike Hogue of Hickory Flat, and Doug Hogue (Doris) of Ripley; one stepdaughter, Virginia Boyles (George) of Yorktown, Va.; two stepsons, Curtis Lamar McCollum (Wanda Kaye) and Denis McCollum, both of Ripley; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchilden.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Dan Hogue; her second husband, Curtis D. McCollum; her daughter, Judy Barkley; her parents; one sister, Mildred Yates; two brothers, Dennis Smith and Harold Smith.
