Johnnie Joseph Walker, 83, died July 18, 2008, at Golden Living Center in Ripley. He was a retired security guard for Dover Elevator Company. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a Third Degree Mason and a member of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church.
Services were at McBride Funeral Home Chapel in Ripley withburial at Tiplersville Cemetery.
Survivors included his wife of 59 years, Mabel Ruth Graves Walker of Ripley; one son, Ricky Holmes (Rhonda) of Sherman; three daughters, Dianne Taylor (Dennis) of McKenzie, Tenn., Judy Meeks (Jimmy) of Tiplersville and Pam Akins of Ripley; two sisters, Addie Morgan (Ed) of McLaurin and Lottie Mae Snowden of Gulfport; one brother, William H. "Bill" Walker (Boots) of Purvis; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Henry and Lottie Onie Autry Walker; two sisters, Mary Walker and Mavis Arnold; three brothers, Hollis Walker, Hurdle Walker and Sartain Walker.
