Jimmy M. "Troy" South, 73, died June 5, 2008, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Iuka. He was a member and deacon of New Salem Baptist Church. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and president of Local No. 206 for 34 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was an overall sports enthusiast and enjoyed fishing and watching his grandchildren play sports.
Services were at New Salem Baptist Church with burial in New Salem Cemetery. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka was in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors included two daughters, Sandra Barnes (James Lowell) and Penny McGee (Greg), both of Iuka; two sisters, Linda Mae Puckett (Ed) of Iuka and Sue Hill (Holbert) of Cabot, Ark.; four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Till South; two brothers, Hursal and Herbert South; and his parents, J.B. and Nellie Grisham South.
