In the 1850 census there is a family listed:
A.M. Goocher (might be Gooches...hard to read) age 69
Mary age 66
Nancy age 10
Mary A. Bird age 12
John (assuming Bird) age 10
I have a strong feeling that I am connected to Birds in this group. I am looking for anyone who knows anything about this family. Because the 1850 census does not list relation, I'm not sure if the Goochers and Birds are family or friends. I am thinking that the Goochers are maybe the maternal grandparents of the Bird kids, but I have no evidence of this.
Here's what I know about my Birds:
Mary Bird (I have a middle name of Elizabeth, but I know census records are not always accurate) was b. abt 1837 (maybe MS or AL). She marries Bryant Williams sometime between 1850 and 1860. By 1860 they are living in Hardeman County, TN. They eventually move to McNairy County, TN. She died in 1908.
I know that my Mary Bird had a brother John, who married one of Bryant Williams' sister (Nancy). They are in Hardeman County in 1860 too. He is a couple years younger than Mary.
Most of what I know matches up with this Tishomingo group. I would love to know who these kids are and who their parents are. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
