Rebecca Louise Southward, 78, died July 5, 2008, at the Iuka Hospital. She was born Dec. 13, 1929, in Mississippi to David and Gertrude Brock Southward. She joined Carters Branch Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. She was a homemaker. Services were at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Belmont with burial in Carters Branch Cemetery in Tishomingo. Survivors included one son, Richard Southward (Barbara) of Corinth; two daughters, Loretta Saddlers (Marvin) of Omaha, Neb., and Janette Southward Bean of Iuka; four sisters, Asilene Emma Whitson of Iuka, Laura Bullock of Nashville, Tenn., Janita Benning (Harold) of Michigan City, Ind., and Luevenia Alexander (Roy) of Tishomingo; one brother, K.C. Southward (Claudette) of Michigan City, Ind.; a very special friend for 35 years, Harold Ray Alexander; nine grandchildren; one special grandson, Skylar R. Bennett; a host of great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Jr. Southward; and her parents, two sons and one daughter. Nephews, cousins and friends will serve as pallbearers.
