Belmont – Bobby Joe “Blue Fox” Stephens, 72, died June 2, 2009, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born June 22, 1936, in Tishomingo County. He attended Belmont High School and served four years in the United States Air Force as a Military Policeman with his faithful dog, Victor. Later, he was employed as a truck driver with Sunshine Mills until a disabling accident in 1995. In earlier years, he was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR racing on television. He was a member of Liberty Church of Christ in Dennis.
Services were at Liberty Church of Christ with burial in Belmont City Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home of Belmont was in charge of arrangements.
Survivors included his wife of 55 years, DeEtta Sneed Stephens, whom he married in December 1954; three sons, Donny Stephens of Belmont, Gary Stephens (Donna) of Pontotoc and Shannon Stephens (Jessica) Sulligent, Ala.; five grandchildren, Staci Stephens of Belmont, Brentley and Kari Anna Stephens of Pontotoc, and Jenna Beth and Blake Stephens of Sulligent, Ala.; his mother, Beulah Stephens of Belmont; a brother, Jackie Stephens (Shirley) of Reno, Nev.; a sister, Shirley Harrison (Glen) Belmont; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Stephens, and two brothers, Dr. Billy V. Stephens and Jerry Stephens.
