Iuka – Juanita Elizabeth Johnston Deese, 88, died June 27, 2009, at the Carrington House Assisted Living in Iuka. She was a member of Gulfcrest Baptist Church of Gulfcrest, Ala., and she was a homemaker. She loved her family and friends and enjoyed cooking and working with her flowers.
Services were held at the Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Balhalla Memorial Garden in Eight Mile, Ala. Magnolia Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Survivors included her daughter, Theresa Jane Deese Rainey (Billy) of Iuka; sons, W.J. Deese (Linda) of Hattiesburg and Nolan Lee Deese (Gail) of Jay, Fla.; daughter-in-law, JoAnn Deese of Wilmer, Ala.; nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Ray Deese; son, Havis Ray Deese Sr.; grandson, Daniel Deese; her father, Jeff Johnston; and mother, Lula Mae Turner Johnston.
