The 1977 Tunica Institute of Learning graduate died March 29, 2007 at her home in Cordova. She was 47. No cause of death has been ascertained.
During her 30-plus year career as a harpist that started with her first performance at the Tunica Rotary Club, Mary Abby Gourley played for the Memphis and Tupelo Symphonies, the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra and Mid-South area churches, including Tunica Presbyterian.
She was the daughter of the late Dr. Robert P. Sayle and Georgeanne H. Sayle and the granddaughter of the late Percy Howard and her namesake - Willie Abbay Howard.
A musical tribute and funeral services were Tuesday at Holy Communion where she was a member. Survived by her husband, Tim Gourley, she also leaves three children, David, Georgeanne and Abbay Gourley; two sisters, Anne Sayle Anthony of Summerland Key, Fla., and Elizabeth Sayle Ruleman of Athens, Tenn.; and a brother, Robert P. Sayle of Lake Cormorant, Miss.
