Services for Rev. William McMahan were held at noon on Sunday, May 27 at Bethlehem M.B. Chuch in Lula with burial in Mt. Olive M.B. Church in Dundee, Miss.
McMahan died Sunday at the Northwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in Clarksdale, Miss. He was 87 years old. He was born June 12, 1919 to Tom and Blanchy Newman in Tucker, Ark. He devoted well over 60 years of his life, lifting up the precious name of Jesues and magnifying the omnipotence of God. Family members recall that through his teachings and prayers, many lives have been touched and many souls saved. Friends and family also remember that the pastor fought a courageous and faithful fight.
At the time of McMahan’s death, he was a member of the Thompson Chapel M.B. Church in Dundee and pastor of both the Bethlehem M.B. Church in Lul and Mt. Olive M.B. Church in Dundee.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Vivian McMahan; two sons, William McMahan Jr. and Willard McMahan Sr; six daughers, Willie Lee McCoy, Mary Alice Williams, Lillian Gibbs, Rita Mullin, Shirley Dukes and Merindy Binder; one sister, Mary Malone; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews cousins and the faithful members of the Bethlehem and Mt. Olive churches.
