Services for Charlcie Kellam Mohead, 77, of Lula were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 20 at the Lula Methodist Church, with burial in Barbee Cemetery in Lula. Rev. Doug Hardin and Rev. Luther Robertson officiated at the services. Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home of Clarksdale was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Mohead, a homemaker, died Aug. 16 at her home. She was born May 18, 1930 in Richmond, VA to Charles Kellam and Gladys Fagan Kellam. She attended MSCW and Mississippi State, majoring in English literature. She was a member of the Clarksdale Garden Club; active in all mother’s clubs at Lee Academy and the Coahoma Conty Extension Service; and was choir director of the Lula Methodist Church for many years. Mrs. Mohead was an avid bridge and mah jong player.
She is survived by two daughters, Becky Mohead Fox of Wasilla, Alaska and Debbie Mohead Connelly of Lula; three sons, Billy Mohead Jr. of Memphis, Paul Mohead of Madison, MS and Pat Mohead of Memphis; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, William H. Mohead.
