Services for Mrs. Martha Patterson Turner, 94, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 3 at Fredonia M.B. Church in Tunica. Martha was born in Tunica, Miss. on Nov. 15, 1913. She was the daughter of Matthew and Nancy Patterson. She had three brothers and three sisters who preceded her in death. She professed her faith in Christ in 1925 and joined the New Hope M.B. church. She later joined Fredonia M.B. Church. Martha married Hosea Turner and their union produced one son, Roy Turner. Her husband preceded her in death. Martha was a member of Herion of Jerico and Eastern Star. She was an entrepreneur and a member of the Tunica TRIAD. She was the oldest member of Fredonia, where she served on the Usher Board, Mother Board, Pastor’s Aid Club and as a Sunday School Primary Teacher. In the community, she was known as “Lil Mama.” The highlights of her year were Easter and Revival. This was when she would search for children to introduce them to the love of God. She is survived by a son, Roy Turner of St. Louis; caregivers Olymptha Weeks, Rechelle Siggers(Van), Rene Nelson and John Nelson of Tunica; three grandchildren, Michael, Yolanda and Marvin of Chicago and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and Christian friends.
