Services for James Lee “Rich” Richardson were held on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008 at Powell-Coleman Funeral Home in Gary, Indiana. Mr. Richardson was born on July 27, 1943 in Robinsonville, Miss. to Katie Mae Richardson and the late Nathaniel Richardson. He added Christ to his life at the age of eight when he became a member of Mt. Olive MBC in Robinsonville under the guidance of the late Pastor J.R. Pittman. He served as an usher at Mt. Olive. He graduated from Rosa Fort High School in Tunica, where he was a member of the baseball team. In 1964, he married and moved to Gary, Ind. In 1968, he entered the U.S. Army, where he served in the Vietnam War. He returned to Gary in 1975 and took a job at the USS International 150 Plant as a construction engineer. He served as the “Top Dog” until his health failed in December 2007. Mr. Richardson is survived by his mother, Katie M. Richardson of Tunica; best friend and love of his life, Louetta Kelley of Gary, Ind.; three sons, Oci Richardson, Kashil H. Richardson, both of North Carolina and Bahari Richardson of Tampa, Fla.; two daughters, Svenja Richardson of West Germany and Tesia C. RIchardson of Gary, Ind.; a god daughter, Coretta Kelley of Gary, Ind.; five sisters, Sammie L. Cruze (Joe) of Chicago, Dorothy West (William) and Larry Etta Davis of Tunica, Rith Mary Moore (Patrick) of Saginaw, Mi. and Joyce Richardson of Memphis; two brothers, Donnie Richardson (Johnnie Mae) and Charles Richardson (Mary) of Tunica, a special cousin, Melvin Miller of Gary, Ind.; two grandchildren, six aunts, two uncles and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Nathaniel Richardson II, a sister, Essie M. Richardson, and brothers Curtis, Larry and Nathaniel Richardson III. Notify Administrator about this message?
