Emma Holden Lambert, wife of the late Robert Lambert and the mother of 18 children, departed this earth on Monday, Sept. 15, 2008. She was preceded in death by six of her children, Sherry, John T., Curtis, Robert Earl, a son and a daughter and six brothers, Benjamin, Allen, Percy, Robert, Henry, and Louis and two sisters, Eulla Mae and Gladys.
Services were Sept. 20 at the New Scott Chapel M.B. Church. Burial was in Oak Grove M.B. Church, where she was a longtime member.
Mrs. Lambert was born in Amite County on Oct. 3, 1919. She came to Tunica County at a very early age and was educated in the Tunica County school system. She married Robert Lambert on Jan. 20, 1937.
She is survived by three daughters, Velma Mae of Tunica, Ernestine of University City, Mo and Barbara Jean of Chicago; nine sons, Willie (Thelma) of Chicago, Andrew Jackson (Deborah) of Detroit, Lewis, Arthur Lee, Theodore and Thomas Allen (Brenda) of Tunica, Retired 1Sgt. Chester Anthony of Kuwait, Retired SFC Corenlious Earl (Donna) of Walls and Percy Lenasi (Sherlena) of Douglasville, Ga; five sisters, Lillie Hood of Memphis, Velma Williams, Beatrice Monroe, Essie Cornes and Olympia Weeks of Tunica; 57 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, 12 great great grandchildren; five daughters-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who loved her dearly.
