Lewis Franklin Coalter Jr., 77, of Horseshoe Bay, Texas passed away on Sept. 23, 2008. He was born on December 22, 1930 in Belzoni, Miss. to Lewis Franklin Coalter, Sr. and Agnes “Brumfield” Coalter. His family lived and worked in Tunica County for many years.
Lewis lived life to the very fullest with joy and great spirit.His passions were football, playing golf, building model boats, ranching, reading, good food and traveling, but his greatest love was his family.
Lewis is survived by his loving wife Dortha Coalte; his children Juliann Pool and her husband Michael of Austin, Texas and Lewis Franklin Coalter III and his wife Jackie of Plano, Texas; his brother John and wife Janet of Brandon, Mississippi; “nearly” children Robin Lee Shorb of Burnet, Texas, Julie Ann Mehl of Burnet, Texas and Dallas Litzenberger and his wife Robin of Tyler, Texas; his grandchildren Jaime Michael and Jessica Layne Pool of Austin, Texas, Lewis Franklin Cody Coalter IV and Jennifer Nichole Coalter of Plano, Texas; and his “nearly” grandchildren Kelsey Williams and her husband Brandon of College Station, Texas, Matthew Shorb, Taylor Shorb, Mackenzie Shorb, Laura Mehl and Sarah Mehl all of Burnet, Texas, Michael Mehl of Grapevine, Texas, Madison Litzenberger, Zachary Litzenberger and Alex Litzenberger all of Tyler, Texas; and great-granddaughter Reese Williams of College Station, Texas.
Lewis is preceded in death by his parents, first wife Donna Coalter and sister Lillian Cole.
A Memorial Service celebrating Lewis’ life was held on Friday, September 26, 2008, at 1 p.m. at the Church of Horseshoe Bay in Horseshoe Bay, Texas. The Rev. Johnny White officiated.
