Services for Isabel “Ann” B. Monk, 95, of Belzoni, Miss. were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008 at First Presbyterian Church in Belzoni with burial in Belzoni Cemetery. Rev. Richard Wiman officiated at the services.
Mrs. Monk died at her home on Sept. 25. She was born on Aug. 27, 1913 in Sallis, Miss., but grew up in Drew and Vicksburg, Miss. She attended and graduated from Western Kentucky Teacher’s College. After marrying Frank Monk, she made her home in Belzoni. She taught at a private kindergarten from 1956 to 1977 and was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church. In her later years, she was a member of the Coffee Ladies group . She enjoyed traveling, spending time with young people, fishing, telling stories and loved her friends and family dearly.
Mrs. Monk is survived by two daughters, Madolyn Smith (David Irby) of Greenwood, Miss. and Amanda Coker of Belzoni; four grandchildren, Chrisann Coleman (Chance) of Lakeland, Tenn., John Frank Coker (Meg) of Walls, Miss., Johnston Smith (Mary) of New Orleans and Madolyn Boyd Lang (Michael) of Jackson; and five great grandchildren, Lizzie and Saylor Coleman of Lakeland, Tenn., Noah and Gaines Coker of Walls and Chappelle Lang of Jackson.
