Dorothy Watson Harris, 83, died peacefully at home on Oct. 21, 2008. Funeral services were held on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008 at Tunica United Metholdist Church with interment at Oakwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Harris was a lifelong resident of Tunica, born to Blanche Curtis Watson and Harvey R. Watson. She graduated from the University of Mississippi and in 1950, married M. Harold Harris. He preceded her in death in 1982.
She was a homemaker and involved in many civic and community affairs. After her husband’s death, she became very involved in her family’s businesses, H.R. Watson and Sons, Dorothy Ann Gin, Inc. and Watson’s Cash Store. She was a lifetime member of and active until her later years in the Tunica United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her son, Maddox Harris, and wife Corneil of Tunica and her daughter, Margaret Dowdle, and husband Bob of Canton. Additional survivors are her grandchildren Watson Harris, Neil Harris, Rob Dowdle, Betsy Dowdle and Paul Dowdle.
