Sister Viola Reed was born to the proud parents, Crain and Mary Rayford, on July 14, 1915 in Tunica, Miss. She was the eldest of three children. Two brothers and her parents preceded her in death. She was educated in the Tunica County Public school system. Christian values were instilled in her at an early age and she accepted Christ and her Savior while in Tunica County. She joined Macedonia M.B. Church at the tender age of twelve and had been a faithful member for over 81 years until she became ill. She was married to Simmie Reed (who preceded her in death) and to this union four children were born. Two preceded her in death (Mary Josephine and Nora Lee). Sister Reed served faithfully on the usher board for over 60 years. She also served as the church secretary for many years. She was active as an Eastern Star, Secretary of Dorcas Home Makers Club, and Secretary of Tunica County Usher’s Union. She was a person who loved to help everyone; she would bake many cakes and pies and try to fill the whole town if she could. She will be truly missed by everyone who she met during her lifetime. She leaves to cherish her memory one faithful daughter, Ethel Baldwin of St. Louis, Mo; one son, Lee Roy Reed (Mary) of Bellwood, IL; one son-in-law, Earnest Clanton of Detroit, MI; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. She also leaves to cherish a devoted caregiver, Saundra Haley of St. Louis, MO, her godchildren Brittney and Brandon Smith and a host of family and friends. Notify Administrator about this message?
