Lloyd Warren Ayles, Sr. was born March 5, 1927 in Oxford, MS to Howard and Azalee Ayles. He graduated from University High School in Oxford. After high school, he volunteered and served in the Air Force during World War II. After the war he moved to Clarksdale to work for Coahoma Electric. On December 18, 1948, he married Jerry Fudge Ayles, and they lived in Clarksdale until 1954, when he was transferred to Tunica. They lived there until they moved back to Clarksdale in 1958. In 1971 he went to work for First National Bank of Clarksdale and retired as Senior Vice President in 1999. Lloyd was an active member of the America Legion, 40 & 8, Clarksdale Lions Club and Francis Landing Hunting Club for over 50 years. He was a past Clarksdale City Commissioner, served on the Clarksdale/Coahoma County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and served as a member and Chairman of the Clarksdale/Coahoma County Planning Commission for over 20 years. He was a member of Clarksdale Baptist Church, where he was an ordained Deacon. He leaves his wife of 60 years, Jerry Ayles; a daughter, Sherry Ayles Melton and son-in-law David Melton of Tunica, MS; a son, Lloyd Warren Ayles, Jr.,of Clarksdale, MS; five grandchildren, Lloyd Colby Ayles, Edward Adam Baird, Kassey Ray Ayles, Samantha Bailey Melton, Elizabeth (Betsy) Ayles Melton and one great grandchild, Anna Kolbie Ayles. Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 10, 2008 at Clarksdale Baptist Church. Notify Administrator about this message?
