Talmadge H. Dowdy, 79, died May 6, 2008, at Darlington Oaks in Verona, Miss. He was born in Pontotoc on Aug. 5 1928 to Guy Dowdy and Mary Etta Hill Dowdy. He was a World War II veteran having served in The United States Army. Before retirement he worked at Orkin and had a Catering Business.
Services were at United Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Ingomar Cemetery.
Survivors included his wife, Sandra Dowdy of New Albany; one brother, Wilburn Dowdy of Ripley; three daughters, Libby (Eric) Iverson of New Albany, Bonnie Sheets of Michigan City, Ind. and Angela Davis of Tucson, Arz; two nephews; one great nephew and special friends Cliff and Joan Young of Ripley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Margarite Grubbs; one son, Hayward Frank Dowdy; one nephew, Wilburn Shane Dowdy; one niece Meshell Dowdy Gann.
