Mable Vance Stroud Kirk, 91, died May 18, 2008, at Union County Health and Rehab in New Albany. She was born July 1, 1916, in Union County to Charlie E. Stroud and Mary Lou Beard Stroud. She was a retired employee of Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County and a member of Enterprise Baptist Church. She enjoyed working in the yard and growing flowers, especially lilies and irises, which she shared lovingly with family and friends.
Services were at United Funeral Service Chapel with burial in Enterprise Cemetery.
Survivors included one daughter, Twanda Coffey (James Major) of Etta; two grandchildren, Marty Coffey (JoBeth) of Etta and Lyndie Coffey Scott (Dr. Brad Scott) of New Albany; five great-grandchildren, Haley and Andrew Coffey, and Molly, Maggie and Julianna Scott; one sister, Charlsey Goolsby (Sonny) of Enterprise; sisters-in-law, Frances Stroud Hill, Joy Stroud, Annie Lee Kirk, Jean Kirk Marrett, Mabelene Kirk, Laverne Kirk White and O.D. Dowdy; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl Kirk; a sister, Frances Stroud Adams; and four brothers, Elbert, William E., Robert and Johnny.
