Addie Marie Gardner, 81, died June 13, 2008, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in New Albany. She was born June 17, 1926, in Union County to Oscar and Maggie Gafford Goggans. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and was attending Ingomar Methodist Church. Earlier in her life she sang in a trio with her sisters, Ruby Hodge and Laverne Kirk. After marriage she traveled with her husband in the military until her retirement as a civil service employee at Randolph Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. She returned to New Albany in 1991. Services were at Ingomar Methodist Church with burial in the Ingomar Cemetery. Mortimer Funeral Home of New Albany was in charge of the arrangements. Survivors included one daughter, Robin Knight of New Albany; one granddaughter, Jamie Knight of Tupelo; one grandson, Landen Grass of Tupelo; two sisters, Eula Campbell (Joey) of Tupelo and Laverne White of Houston; one brother, Robert Goggans (Ruby Jewel) of Thaxton; one brother-in-law, W.T. Richardson of New Albany; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Gardner; a daughter, Pamela Vadnais; and three sisters, Ora B. Dew, Ruby Hodges and Irene Richardson. Notify Administrator about this message?
