Samuel Hickman, 83, died April 14, 2009, at the Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. He was born April 17, 1925, to John E. Hickman and Beatrice Coleman Hickman in New Albany. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Shiloh CME Church.
Services were at Shiloh CME Church with burial in Shiloh Cemetery. Serenity Funeral Home of New Albany was in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors included 12 children, Samuel Hickman Jr. of Milwaukee, Dorothy Hickman of New Albany, Emma Hickman of Fort Payne, Ala., John W. Hickman, Larry Hickman, Robert Hickman, Terry Hickman and Sarah (Nathaniel) Hickman Williams, all of Portland, Ore., Vivian Hickman of Atlanta, Floyd (Pam) Hickmon of Roanke, Wash., Regina Wilkinson of Milwaukee and Valorie Stacey of Racine, Wis.; two brothers, Troy Hickman of Racine and John Mike Hickman of Lakeland, Fla.; three sisters, Willie Byles of Fulton, Sarah Kildare of Michigan and Shirley Easley of Lacy, Wash.; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
