Hi,

I looked in my civil war atlas which has military maps in use at the time. There is a Bear Creek that flows into the Big Black River about a mile or so upriver from the town of Bridgeport which is just north of Edwards Station. There may have been some skirmishes here. Just to the east of Edwards Station there was a battle fought near Baker's Creek. This is known as the Battle of Champion's Hill.
