In 1853-54, young Thomas D. Carneal was killed by one of the sons of elderly Judge T. James aboard a steamboat tied up near the James plantation. Can anyone tell me anything about the community of James, please. Is it named for this family? I am writing an article on this incident to put online at the genweb site, and would like any information anyone can give me on this incident or the families involved. Thanks, Sue Moore Notify Administrator about this message?
