The Hammett families were absentee landowners and sold the plantation not long after they inherieted the place. The cemetery was leveled a few years ago and the remains that could be found were removed to the Metcalfe family cemetery. The plantation name has been changed a number of times since the Hammett family sold the place, currently it is called the Rucker place. The Mississippi River and Levee system took about half of the farm in the 1930's.
