Many thanks for the information. It looked like those Hammett heirs that survived the Civil War stayed in the Southwest Virginia area so I thought perhaps the property was sold. I found a reference to some ledgers for the Aldomar (another Hammett plantation) and Lammermoor plantations (1867-68) online at the Virginia Tech library site. I have not had a chance to check them out in person yet though. Again, I appreciate your response. It has been most helpful.
