Erza, This info on Hezekiah is posted on my Williams family site. I am looking for info on Sampson. Apparently Sampson and Hezekiah came to Wayne county around the same time. Was Hezekiah a lawyer? Sampson father Rowland b approx 1740 son of Pilgrim Williams. Looking for dob and dod and location in Wayne county of Sampson. Were they related? Believe in north Wayne or south Clarke county. The Jonathan mentioned is Uncle of Sampson's. thanks junior note: some evidence of the Bush's mentioned is ancestor of George W Bush It is through the administration of the estate of Susannah Bush Williams Murrah (see notes for Susannah) that certainty of the lineage of Sampson and Roland Williams (III) is provided. Sampson, residing in Wayne County, MS, on 24 Feb 1828, gave a power of attorney to one Hezekiah Walker Jr, also residing in Wayne County, empowering Walker to act in respect to Sampson's interest in "Roalin Williams my late father deceased" and that of "my grandfather Bib Bush late deceased." This power of attorney was recorded in Book 43 of deeds in Edgefield County, SC. Sampson's brother Roland (III), residing in Simpson County, MS, on 18 Feb 28, likewise executed a power of attorney to Hezekiah Walker Jr, referring to "my father Roalin Williams, deceased," such power of attorney also filed in Book 43. Also, a deed dated 4 April 1828 and headed up Edgefield District, SC, conveys from Hezekiah Walker of Wain (sic - Wayne) County, MS, to Mary Williams of Edgefield District, for $27, all the interest that Sampson Williams and Roland Williams may have in the estate of Susanah Murrah, deceased, located in Edgefield District "on the ridge road." The indication in an article in the "So. Carolina Magazine of Ancestral Research," date unclear, states that the "deed" was recorded in Bk. WW, pp. 336 and 337, Edgefield Dist. records. This document represents a quit-claiming of their interest in the remainder estate (of the real property on "ridge road") created when their mother died, by two (of an apparent total of eight) children of Roland and Susannah to their sister, Mary. From an entry in Edgefield Sales Bk. A-76 described in a book, "Edgefield County, South Carolina Records," by Jane Revill, it appears that the only other child who joined in the conveyance was William; an entry described in the book states: "William, Roland: Sampson: Mary--purchaser estate of Susannah Murrah. See card Hezekiah Walker. Jonathan Williams-wit. Edgefield Rec. Bk A Loose Paper. 1828." (Described by researcher Mr. Horace Satcher in a message to the author of this file on 7 Feb 2004 and verified from observation by descendent Jan Coxey). The Edgefield County estate records shown in Revill's book list eight heirs to Roland's estate; see notes for Susannah for further on this matter. Notify Administrator about this message?
