I am interested in contacting descendants of Green Lampkin and wife Easter Thomasson Lampkin (1844-1941) and of William Lampkin and wife Sophia Wallace Lampkin. Before emancipation, Green and William were slaves of Euell Lampkin in northern Winston County. In the 1850s the sisters Easter and Sophia were deeded by Susanah H. Standifer Wallace to her children Susan A. Wallace Thomasson and Thomas D. Wallace. The birth parents of Easter and Sophia were Doc and Margaret Stroud.

Green Lampkin and Easter Thomasson married in January 1869, and William Lampkin and Sophia Wallace married in November 1869. The Green Lampkin family remained in northern Winston County, while the William Lampkin family moved to southwestern Oktibbeha County. William and Sophia appear as a young couple in the 1870 census of Beat 4 Oktibbeha County and with four children – Amanda, Thomas, Frances, and Dorcas - in the 1880 census. I have no record of them after 1880.

Green Lampkin died in the late 1890s. He and Easter were parents of 12 children, with two dying young. The others were (1) Pickens Lampkin who md Mollie Wicker (2) Green Berry Lampkin who md Carrie Spiva (3) Jake Lampkin (4) Azalene Lampkin who md Jim Griffith (5) George Quitman Lampkin who md Harriet Barron (6) Marion “Coot” Lampkin (7) Walter Lampkin who md Frances Frazier (8) Margaret Lampkin who md Tom Barron (9) Mary Lampkin who md Wade Davis (10) Pete “Boy” Lampkin who md Willie Ashford.

On the afternoon of Saturday Oct. 16, 2004, a dedication service will be held at the old Liberty Hill Cemetery in southwestern Oktibbeha County for a marker being placed at the grave of Easter Thomasson Lampkin (1844-1941). On the same afternoon, a dedication service will be held at the Blackwood Cemetery in northern Winston County for a marker being placed at the grave of Easter’s former owner, Susan Wallace Thomasson (1835-1865).
