Can someone help me w/ my brick wall?
George Henry "Babe" Hunt, b. 4 July 1863, somewhere in Mississippi - Yalobusha County, I think.
I have located him on Census records in Jefferson County, Arkansas in 1870, age 7, 1900, age 37, 1910, 47.
The first Census in 1870, he is part of the house hold of S E Hunt, 40 yr old F b. in Georgia. He had a brother, b. 1860, MS, as well.
There is a John Hunt family listed on the 1860 Census for Yalobusha County; there are several children, the youngest being 8 yrs old. Both parents are listed as being b. in Georgia, and one of the son's names is James.
There is a James Hunt in Jefferson County, AR in the previous residence to S E's. I suspect he is an older son, or a step-son, possibly.
George Henry was a butcher by profession; the older Census record for the John Hunt family in MS shows he was a grocer.
G.H. was also a member of the Woodmen of the World Organization. I have contacted the local chapter here to inquire, to no avail.
He passed away in 1913, in Pine Bluff, AR.
I am hoping someone might be able to help me confirm George Henry's parents & ancestry.
Please accept apologies if I provided too much information, or if you need other details, please e mail back & I will answer, if possible.
He is proving to be a most difficult case to crack!
Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you soon. You may e mail me back @ the following address: sassenach_origins@hotmail.com
Kind Regards,
Jessica
