Anita, At what time period did the Stam, Stamn and Frasier's live in Yazoo County? Satartia has few to no cemeteries because it was near the Yazoo River and frequently flooded. Burials were often at other cemeteries located in the nearby hill country. The Yazoo County USGENWEB site has a growing list of cemeteries and names of burials; while not complete by any means, you may be able to get lucky here. I would also contact the library in Yazoo City. I've seen posts by Mr. John Ellzey on the Rootsweb message board for Yazoo County. He works at the library and is a life-long Yazoo citizen. I think the library has newspapers; not sure just which ones. The courthouse should have many records, most of which have been microfilmed and are available in the Mississippi Department of Archives and history. The Archives also has many newspapers on microfilm; It would take you forever and a day to read them all, however! Many of the Yazoo courthouse records are available on loan from the Mormon Family History Library. Don't forget the GNIS web site for locations in Yazoo County: http://geonames.usgs.gov/pls/gnis/web_query.gnis_web_query_form You can look up cemeteries, churches, etc. For a visit, a map of Yazoo County is invaluable. DeLorme publishes a book of all of Mississippi(it does not have sections, township and range). The Miss Dept of Transportation sells individual county highway maps with Township, Range and sections. Instructions for obtaining maps can be found at : http://www.gomdot.com Good luck. Notify Administrator about this message?
