June,

You and I have corresponded before about this family. I am sorry that I can't answere your question about James' parentage at this time. I used to be able to access my files at work, but things have changed and I don't have the files with me.
I live in MS and have recently visited Glenwood Cemetery in Yazoo City, MS I took photos of all the family headstones I could find. James is there.
I have seen a website in the past that talks about the Agnes Diggs and Thomas Everett marriage and how she was ostracized by her family because of the Quaker feeling that she was marrying out of Unity.

My database is posted at Rootsweb Worldconnect under the name adamsrbk. You can search on Emeline Everett with spouse Duggan and find it.
I do have some of the references posted and they may help you.
Bobbie Zackey, who is a distant cousin on the Everett side was living in the Dallas area when she sent me much of the information I have. She cites the Moorman Bible and says she has more on Diggs. I have not been in contact with her recently and am not doing much on genealogy at this time due to the destruction by Hurricane Katrina in our area. My mother-in-law lost her home and my mother and brothers had such terrible damage to their homes that they are living with us until they can rebuild.

Best of Luck,
Rebecca A Smith
