Nan,
I have just had the MOST fun looking for those land patents. Can you tell me where Mount Salus was? Jesse Cole and William J. Austin seemed to live in Hinds Co., but then owned land in what was called Choctaw District in Yazoo. Several of their transactions took place at Mount Salus. Jesse Cole must have had a son named Jesse also. I need to get the probate record from Yazoo Co., MS for Jesse Cole. You have helped me so much and I certainly do thank you. William J. Austin was buying land in that area as early as 1824. Is there a site on line where I can look at the sections and districts of early Yazoo Co., MS?
I can hardly wait to investigate those Land Patents some more....many many thanks.
