I am also researching this line. My great-grandmother is Tennie Elizabeth Smith Alderman who is the sister of Ahijah Hay Zealie Smith. She married Ira Benton Alderman and had 14 children, one of whom is my grandmother Ethel. I have been unable to proceed further back. I know her father was Alexander Green Rogers Smith and her mother was Sarah Elizabeth Deskin (sometimes spelled Deskins). I believe her father was Ahijah Deskins, but have not been able to verify further back from here. I have not been able to get past Alexander Green Rogers Smith on the paternal (Smith)side of the family. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
