My name is Donald L Grant,I think I have all the info you need on Laura LaVatta to this day in my tree,I had a hard time figuaring out all this stuff,but let me tell you that someone or something along the lines made it very hard to track the right Grants and I think there was even attempt to mislead or dates to throw you off.now my GGGrandfather is Richard M Grant,nephew of Jonny Grant his brother was Richard Grant(wife Laura D LaVatta) the father of Richard M Grant now Richard SR Grants wifes name was emilie Lang I do believe,Richard M Grant had a son (Frank)Francis Henry Grant my GGrandfather his wife was Lily Ball nee Grant
I Have records of Jonny Grant in 1875 signing papers to take care of is nephew and it saying his dad was Richard SR half breed and his mother Emilie LangecHalfbreed..Richard says in letter that he came Montana with his uncle.
