I made an effort to find Thomas on the 1900 and 1910 Montana census records, but did not find him. I belived he might have been the Thomas Hewitt who arrived in New York on Dec 15 1883 from Liverpool to New York on the ship ,"City of Richmond" age 51 ( b abt 1858)Single, in Fore Steerage.

An application for a death certificate from Montana, can be ordered online at www.vitalchek.com . a payment required, but I do not know the cost. Sorry I was not of much help in your search. But Thomas was evidently hiding from me. Howard Boswell
