I am looking for my natural great grandmother (Passed away late 1918++ or realy 1920s either Michigan or Butte Montanna). Her identity was kept secret until after her daughter died.
* Known clues: Given name of the couple who adopted her two children: Elmer and Julia Hitchcock.
* The biological mother may have been the sister to the adoptive mother, Julia.
* Childrens names: Mirabel (or Myra) and Worth (or Werth?).
* Werth and Myra were probably adopted between 1915-1920.
* The adoption may have take plce in Butte Montanna or just after arrving back in the family home state of Michigan.
* The Montonna-born biological-father was the only adult member of the party not born in Michigan.
* Last name may have been Olson, Olsen, Ol....?
* Told the birth mother died (possibly in Montanna) of TB not long after Worth's birth.
* The birth mother is rumored to worked at the Dumas Brothel in Butte Montanna prior to her death.
* Cause of Death TB around the age of 19/20ish???.
* Guessing she was ast Dumas approx 1910-1916 +/- years.
* Her name might be Alice or Also...?
* Last name may have been Olson/Olsen??? married or just assumed his name.
* Last undocumented pc of info: Parents of (adoptive mother) Julia & (birth mother) 'Alice' may have had the surname Barnes or something phonetically close.
* I once heard the name Mary Wesson Barnes referenced as the biological mother of 'Alice Olsen'.
* All adults were born in Michigan, except the biological father whom the census reports as born in Montanna. Both children, Myra & Worth were born in Butte Montanna.
* The aoption probably took place around 1918 shortly after Werth was born. Myra was born aproximately 3-4 years before Worth abt 1915.
* Best clue: Julia (the adpotive mother was probably sister to the natural mother). The marraige license may give me Julia's parents (another lead on Worth/Myra mother).
If the lciense gives that info and i'm able to use it to locate Julia's birth certificate it will probably direct me to Myra/Werth's birth Granparents.
