I am attempting to trace my grandfather ---
I am fairly sure he was born on August 4, 1890 although US census records indicate abt 1891. His country of birth is listed variously as Romania or Austria, depending on the source. His US military registration card (1917) indicates he was born in SARAT. AUSTRIA. The name Sarat is fairly legible although the "t" extends below the line. The period after Sarat is very legible so it could be an abbreviation for another city. Any help clarifying the location of his birth would be appreciated. I wonder if this would be what is now Ramnicul Sarat Romania or Glodeanu Sarat Romainia?
Adam Wagner was a farmer of German heritage. I believe he emigrated to Russia, where he married Rosena, and then to Saskatchewan Canada. They then emigrated to Scoby or Wolf Point Montana in 1916 and 1917. Sons Gustav (1915), Philip (1916) born in Canada and Alfred (1920) and one daughter, Ida (1921), born in the US. Adam and Rosena moved to Walla Walla, Washington where the passed away in 1948.
Any information you can give me, either general or specific will be very much appreciated.
