Thanks so much for posting the information. I do have some of the information but not all and most of the information helps verify what I already have. Some causes confusions which I guess is what makes tracing the family tree so interesting. Age at first marriage: 34 [can't possible at age 34 since Gustav is 14] --- I am curious where this came from ... I don't see it on the 1930 census. Rosa Wagner 39, Russia - immigrated 1915 --- This is contradicted by a 1917 immigration document that shows she and two sons arrived in Feb of that year. That document confirms my dad's comments that the family waited until he was old enough to travel to move from Canada. Immigrants from Eastern Europe frequently flip/flopped their place of birth depending on the political climate of Europe at the time of the census. Also after WWI the boundaries of many countries were adjusted. --- Thanks for the tip, it appears to be very true. I was just put in touch with a teacher in Romania who not only confirmed what you you suggest but indicated the additional problem that Sarat may not be the town name at all but suggests an area located close to salt deposits. He found there were 30 some villages with that term in their name, both in Romania and Austria. I guess there is the additional problem of the person taking down the information not being able to understand my grandfather well enough to write down the full name of the community. Thanks again for the information. Notify Administrator about this message?
