A biography/family history of Charles Reifenrath is included in "Montana, Its Story and Biography", Vol 3, page 670. Charles was born, 22 Oct 1878, son of Herman and Eliza Ann (Gartley) Reifenrath. Herman was born in Germany in 1832, and died in Helena, MT, in Feb. 1918. Herman came to the US as a young man and settled near Waukegan, IL, and there married Eliza Ann Gartley, who died in Helena in 1914. Herman and Eliza had six children: Mrs. Minnie Carson; Ella (Mrs. James H. Bondy, Great Falls, MT; Gertrude (Mrs. John F. Davis, Spokane, WA); William, who was killed in a train wreck at De Hart, MT; Anna (Mrs. Wallace D. Coborn, Hollywood, CA); Charles H. Herman was a station master in Chicago & Minnesota for the Northwestern Railroad, then moved to Helena, MT, in 1885, as station manager for the Northern Pacific Railroad, from which he retired in 1914. Charles H. held many positions in the newspaper business and became a leading newspaper man in Helena. He was the owner of Northwestern Stockman and Farmer and general manager of the Montana Record-Herald. In 1907, Charles married Miss Grace Mabel Wilson, who was born in Mankato, MN.
