From the book "Names on the Face of Montana: The Story of Montana's Place Names," by Roberta Carkeek Cheney, first published in 1983:

"SAVAGE (Richland County) is named for H.M. Savage, supervising engineer for the U.S. Reclamation Service, and is on the Yellowstone River near North Dakota. The post office opened in 1910 with Clark Brooks as the postmaster. For many years it was a busy shipping point for grain farmers and river bottom beet growers."

1920 U.S. Federal Census; Montana; Richland County; School District #: 64; Enumerated on 11 Feb 1920:

HOON, William H.; head of household; male; white; 50 years old; widowed; born in Iowa; both parents born in Ohio; occupation: farmer--general farm.

Also on this page at different locations, are a married couple, John (37) and Mae (28) Hoon; he is born in Iowa and both parents born in Ohio and is also listed as a farmer.

And at another location there is Edward Hoon, 46 years, also born in Iowa and parents born in Ohio, and listed as a farmer.

1920 U.S. Federal Census; Montana; Richland County; School District: #38; Roll: T625_974; Page: 4b; Enumeration District: 177; Image: 1028; Enumerated on 24 Jan 1920:

BINA, Lloyd; head of household; male; white; 28 years old; married; born in Bohemia; both parents born in Bohemia; immigrated to U.S. in 1909; occupation: laborer--general farm.
BINA, Stella; wife; female; white; 20 years old; married; born in Nebraska; both parents born in Missouri; occupation: none listed.
----------
As Stella was born in Nebraska and her parents were born in Missouri, she doesn't seem to match the Hoon family history of being born in Iowa and Ohio.
----------

I found one Stella Hoon who was raised by her grandparents in Iowa in the 1910 census, but I don't know if she is the right Stella.

1910 U.S. Census; Iowa; Harrison County; Magnolia; Roll: T624_405; Page: 3a; Enumeration District: 79; Image: 284; Enumerated on 15 Apr 1910:

HOON, Joseph W.; head of household; male; white; 67 years old; married one time for past 46 years; born in Ohio; father born in Pennsylvania; mother born in Ohio; occupation: none listed.
HOON, Elspa; wife; female; white; 61 years; married one time for the past 46 years; ten children born to this marriage; seven children still living; born in Ohio; father born in Virginia; mother born in Ohio; occupation: none listed.
HOON, Stella M.; granddaughter; female; white; 11 years old; born in Nebraska; both parents born in Iowa.

Now here is where is gets confusing and I don't know if this is the same Stella M. Hoon:

MISSOURI MARRIAGE RECORDS, 1805-2002

Name: Stella Mances Hoon
Date of Marriage: 18 Apr 1920
Place of Marriage: Elma, Nodaway County, Missouri
Spouse: Pearly A. Drummond.

I hope the above information helps. I am not related.
