Muckleroy - MD, VA, NC, GA, TN, TX

My family spelled the name Muckleroy. Other relatives may spell the name Muckelroy. Before they migrated to Texas, the name was spelled all sorts of ways, but they mostly sounded like Muckleroy.
Most of the Muckleroys who came to Texas were sons of Isaac Muckleroy of Franklin Co., TN and his wife Sarah Floyd. His father was Avington Muckleroy (and Sarah Dawson) of Wilkes and Oglethorpe Co., GA, and Johnston and Wake Co., NC. Avington's father was Archibald (and Catherine)of Baltimore Co., MD and Craven, Johnston, & Wake Co., NC. Archibald's parents were John and Frances Mackelroy.
Differences in spelling (all ways) seem to indicate this lineage. The ones who consistently spell it McElroy may not be connected. But then again they may be. Spelling is not all that important on this line.
I have been researching this family for 27 years and I always enjoy finding Muckleroy relatives.
