Hi, Betty!
Thank you so much for your response. I have read thru many of your posts, while trying to find more information on my John McElroy. ( McElroy is the spelling used in the 1860 Fannin county Ga census). I'd love for you to keep an eye out for anything that might be a connection to this group!

Here's a re-cap of what I have....mostly from that one census entry.

JOHN McELROY b-1795 in GA, blacksmith, lived in Fannin county, Ga in 1860
m. _____ _____ b.? in Ga. d bfr 1860 ( prob married in GA? Before 1833...)
dau.
NANCY E. MCELROY HICE WILLIAMSON b-1833-6, d-Dec 11, 1890
married 1. _____ Hice( b? d 1850-52) m. abt 1848-50
children..William Posey Hice b-abt 1850 ( alternately shown 1848-52)

married 2. Anderson (Andrew) Williamson Oct 21, 1855, in Fannin county, Ga.
children...Martin b-1856, Martha b-1858, John b-1863, Julia b-1872

In one entry in rootsweb, the list of Nancy's and Anderson's children includes a William Williamson b-1852...this MUST be William Posey Hice...as Nancy and Anderson married in 1855..)

One of my Great Aunts, Nancy E. Eller Hice, was named after Greatgrandad's Mother, so Mama always said....as this was later borne out by census entries, perhaps there is a connection to "Eller" somewhere? Any of your McElroy's have a wife with the maiden name Eller?

Thanks so much for your interest! Any clue greatly appreciated!!
-Fran
