Richard,
I found a Rich Macon Mullens in the Texas birth &/or death index.Shirley Houston & I are looking for a common family, Mullens/Macon of Wacoville area abt. 1840 forward.
Macon is a family name and therefore uncommon when coupled with Mullens.
I would furthemore suggest that "Plea" or "Plee"is short for "Pleasant."I have, in the last 2 days, printed copious amts of info on the Macon's. I have found the name "Pleasant"in with the Macon's.(I must say "Pleasant" was a fairly freq. used name at that time.)
Perhaps Dr. Issac Newton Mullens m. Lucy Macon,1835 was the father or grandfather of "Doc" and Pleasant?
My G-G-Grandmother was born Louisanna Sturdivant Mullens to the 2 persons above, in Waco, Tx. abt. 1848. She would have a child named Macon Gardner as well as a Lucy Gardner, my G-grandmother.All her children had family names.
If you have a Macon name in your Mullens, perhaps we can help each other.
I have ordered the McLennan Co. 1870 Census so I can identify family members.
Thanks.
