I am also looking for information on Thomas or Peter Mulligan who arrived here to New Zealand in the late 1800's on a whaleing boat.
He jumped ship on the east coast (Waipiro Bay) where he married my great grandmother.
We think he was from Limerick Ireland and there was an assumption that he left there in a hurry. I dont know why or if that is true.
He used both names Peter and Thomas but some of the family believe he was travelling with his brother and that one of these names was his.
He didnt divulge much information about his family or past and lived out his life on the east coast (Tokomaru Bay) with the local Maori people. He married Hine Pahoe. All desendants since have been Maori but we know nothing about our connection to Ireland other than the name. Any information would be a god sent
