Dear Jane,
I called the Randolph County Library in Asheboro and asked them to fax me a copy of the newspaper article. It is one paragraph long and copied from micro-fich (don't think I'm spelling that right), anyway the copy is not great, so I am typing a copy for you:

Husband and Wife Killed
Mr. and Mrs. Bartley Mullis were killed in the wreck of their Ford car, near Marshallville, last Friday. Evidence proves that the car was being driven at a too rapid rate of speed. A third party, gentleman friend of the couple, was driving, but was interfered with by Mr. Mullis, who was intoxicated, and who insisited upon taking the wheel. During the dispute the car in some manner upset, with disastrous consequences noted above.

The librarian was very helpful. She checked for me to see if there was an obituary or any other article of this accident. Nothing. We'll just keep looking.
Marie
