I have one too. The bottle contained mineral waters and was manufactured by a company established in 1851 by Charles Mumby. Charles was a chemist and his venture into mineral waters was so successful, he managed to get a contract to supply the stuff to the Royal Navy. His business was located in Portsmouth England. The company ceased operations in 1971.

I have a photograph of a large enamel sign advertising "Mumbys, by appointment to HM the King" that I found in a pub in Bermuda. I also have a jpg file of an advertisement circa 1920/30 showing a pretty young girl and a Royal Navy officer each holding a glass of mineral water. (Perhaps the navy was trying to wean the sailors from grog to a less intoxicating drink). If you would like a copy of the jpg, I can send it to you as an e-mail attachement.

Dennis, in Ontario, Canada.
