I have a T or J Arthur Mummery as a witness to my Great Grandmother's marriage
Andrew Wilson McIntosh m. Helen Alison
1889 at Christchurch Protestant Dissenters
witnesses
Barbara Alison (sister, married T/J Arthur Mummery later)
James Alison (her father)
T/J (i can't make it out, i think it's a T though) Arthur Mummery.
I have a letter by James Alison written in 1926 to Arthur & Helen while they were in Canada B.C. talking of many relatives by first name.
He Mentions Folkestone in it:
"...
I think you would like to know that Barbara and Arthur are both quite well at Folkestone; and that Oswald, by writing to highest quarters, asking for transfer from Eastbourne to his parent's home at Folkestone, was at length summoned to present claims in London; which, after some delay, were sent to him and his former head at Folkestone, for his transfer there; where his intended wife has been typewriter, who past inspection also for staff appointment at same time as Oswald did. The comely young woman has won our warm esteem as well as that of Bar. and Arthur. Now Oswald will not have such a high cost of living in lodgings and being five minutes walk from home, he will find it easier to save for his future wants in *homemaking*. We wish them much success in happy partnership for good life!
